TP-Link Router vs Tenda Router: Which Is Faster?
If you only compare the numbers on the box, the Archer AX55 wins.
TP-Link Canada rates the AX55 as AX3000, with up to 2402 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 features including OFDMA and 160 MHz channel bandwidth with compatible devices.
The Tenda RX3 is rated AX1800, with up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Tenda also lists MU-MIMO and OFDMA among its wireless features.
That doesn't mean the AX55 will give you 2402 Mbps of internet speed. Those are theoretical wireless link rates. Your actual speed will depend on your ISP plan and the devices connected to the router.
For example, if your internet plan is 500 Mbps, changing to a router with a higher Wi-Fi rating won't turn the connection into a 2 Gbps service. The benefit of a higher-rated router is more about wireless capacity and how comfortably it can handle compatible devices and network traffic.
For households with several phones, laptops, TVs, consoles and smart-home devices, the AX55 has the stronger specification on paper.
The Archer AX55 Gives You More Wired Options
Wi-Fi gets most of the attention when people shop for routers, but the Ethernet ports still matter.
The Archer AX55 has one Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports. That gives you plenty of room for wired devices such as a desktop computer, gaming console, smart TV, printer or network switch.

What About Wi-Fi Coverage?

A router doesn't automatically cover a certain number of rooms just because the manufacturer gives it a particular range rating. The construction of your home makes a big difference.
Concrete walls, multiple floors, neighbouring Wi-Fi networks, furniture and even where you place the router can change the result.
TP-Link Canada lists the Archer AX55 with four high-performance antennas, Beamforming and a high-power front-end module. TP-Link categorizes its range for 3-bedroom houses, but actual coverage will vary depending on the environment.
For a typical apartment, condo or house, the AX55 should be more than enough for many setups. If you're dealing with a large house or several weak-signal areas, though, adding compatible mesh equipment may be a better solution than simply buying a router with bigger numbers.
Mesh Support Can Make a Difference Later
You may not need a mesh setup today, but it's worth thinking about if you live in a larger home.
The Archer AX55 supports TP-Link OneMesh and EasyMesh. With compatible equipment, you can expand your Wi-Fi coverage instead of replacing the main router when you discover a dead zone.
That's a practical advantage because your networking needs can change. Maybe the router works perfectly when it's installed in the living room, but a home office gets added upstairs later. Mesh expansion can give you another way to solve that problem.
Just make sure the devices you're planning to combine are actually compatible. Mesh features aren't universal across every router and extender.
Security Features: AX55 Has More to Offer
A router is responsible for much more than getting your phone online.
The Archer AX55 supports WPA, WPA2 and WPA3 security. TP-Link also includes HomeShield features covering areas such as network security, parental controls and device management.
Depending on the feature, HomeShield may include free functionality or require a paid Pro subscription.
The AX55 also supports features such as guest networking, QoS, VPN functions, IPv4/IPv6 support and access controls.
For someone who just wants Wi-Fi at home, you may never use every one of these options. But having them available gives you more control when your network becomes more complicated.
Don't Ignore the Router's Firmware and Hardware Version
There's another detail that's easy to miss when buying networking equipment online: hardware versions.
TP-Link's Canadian support pages list multiple hardware versions of the Archer AX55. Firmware should be matched to the correct hardware version and region.
That is one reason it is better to check the Canadian manufacturer's support page rather than downloading firmware from a random website or assuming that a file from another country will work.
The model name may be the same across markets, but that doesn't mean every regional configuration, firmware version or regulatory setting is necessarily identical.

Tenda RX3 EOL Status Is Important
This is the biggest difference between the two products from a buying perspective.
Tenda's official EOL Center currently lists the RX3 as EOL. The manufacturer's listing gives an end-of-life date of April 1, 2021, and an end-of-service date of April 1, 2022.
That doesn't mean an RX3 that you already own will suddenly stop working. A working router can continue to perform its basic networking functions.
The question is different when you're deciding what to buy today.
If you're spending money on a new primary router, choosing a model that is still part of the manufacturer's current product and support ecosystem generally makes more sense than starting with an EOL product.
That's why the RX3's EOL status should be mentioned clearly rather than treating this as a simple AX1800-versus-AX3000 comparison.
So, Which One Should You Buy in Canada?
If you're choosing specifically between the Archer AX55 and RX3 for a new purchase in Canada, I'd go with the Archer AX55.
The reason isn't just the AX3000 rating.

For a new purchase in Canada, the TP-Link Archer AX55 is the better choice between these two models.
